One of the great things about the Superbowl is the Lombardi Presentation of the famous World Championship Trophy. Every year it is great to see the winning team host that magnificent specimen's of teamwork, hardwork, and discipline that is the culmination of a year long journey.
Almost every year, the winners have pulled of the shoulder pads and donned the winners t shirts and caps. You see Peyton and Coach Tony wearing the Superbowl 41 winner t shirt and hat.
Where do they come from and what happens to the loosing teams T shirts and hats? In this case the Chicago Bears?
Well Reebok is the manufacturer of those hats and t shirts. They make up 2 sets; one for the Colts and one set for the Bears. At the end of the game, Reebok representatives rush on to the field and pass out these items to the players who won. These players know they are coming and are looking for them.
But what about the losers? What happened to the Bears caps and T Shirts? The 288 T-shirts and caps made for the team that did not win — will be hidden behind a locked door at Dolphin Stadium. By order of the National Football League, those items are never to appear on television or on eBay. They are never even to be seen on American soil.
They will be shipped Monday morning to a warehouse in Sewickley, Pa., near Pittsburgh, where they will become property of World Vision, a relief organization that will package the clothing in wooden boxes and send it to a developing nation, usually in Africa.
This way, the N.F.L. can help one of its charities and avoid traumatizing one of its teams.
